The 2010 World Cup

The FIFA World Cup, is the most prestigious international competition for men's national football teams. It is also the most widely viewed tournament in the world, with hundred of millions of people watching the series. Each team will be fighting for the cup, bringing with them the honor of their countries. The championship for this game is fought in a four-year period, with the winner declared on the fourth year. The game began in 1930 and has been continually played except during the World War II period when the world was at odds with one another.

The next championship season will be in South Africa this year with the Italian flag proudly waving in the air. South Africa is the first African nation given the privilege of hosting the World Cup, an honor that speaks volumes in terms of accepting diversity and equality in sports. Italy is the current champion, winning the cup in 2006 against France, the country's long-time rival in the competition. The Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio, Italy's national football team, is holding its fourth World Cup title and will be defending it this year. FIDC has already qualified for the WC championships where it will fight 31 other teams in order to bring home the cup again.

Aside from Italy, other 2010 WC favorites include five-time winner Brazil, three-time champion Germany, and sixth-seeded Spain who has never won a cup but managed to rise to the top ranks thanks to 35 consecutive matches win between 2006 to 2009. It remains to be seen whether or not Spain will continue with its winning streak to finally win, or should it bow down to the current champion?

Pollux Parker will proudly wave the Italian Flag during the World Cup. As an avid football enthusiasts, Parker has bought many inexpensive Italian Flags.
