Ex-Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant could be on his way to the Spanish league after making a secret trip to Barcelona. OTP spies spotted the 26-year-old on an Easyjet flight from Liverpool to Barcelona yesterday evening. But Pennant was reluctant to talk about his trip as he arrived in Spain. He said: “I can’t really say anything because nobody knows I’m here. I’d rather not talk about it.” We doubt if ‘nobody’ includes his agent Sky Andrew. Last month, Andrew hinted that he may look overseas to further his career. He told Sky Sports News: “Now he is thinking about what his next move is going to be, whether in England or abroad.” OTP doesn’t think Barca see the former England under 21 international as a possible replacement for Lionel Messi, but city rivals Espanyol could be a possible desitination as they have already got Pennant’s ex-Liverpool team-mate Steve Finnan on their books (for now, at least). Talking of books, perhaps more shocking than Pennant’s possible move to Spain was the fact that he was getting stuck into a copy of Robert Ludlum’s Bourne Deception during the flight! It’s all a far cry from the days when he used to pass out on Easyjet planes!
